Are you any of the following?

An educated homemaker with grown kids and you know men and women with similar or even lesser skills than you possess yet you've seen them excel professionally. You now have the time that you always lacked, and you want to explore the possibilities that exist for a person with your language skills.

OR

A fresh graduate and you have finished your studies. You want to leverage your language skills and communication abilities to be gainfully employed in an industry that will give you ample personal growth opportunities while rewarding you for your professional contribution.

OR

A working professional who feels stagnated because your work-profile doesn't align with your personal strengths, nor does it allow you to explore your true potential; and every now and then, you experience the pain of missed opportunities in an area that you feel you could excel in.

OR

A dynamic, recently retired professional, possibly more energetic and enthusiastic than most men and women half your age, but since retirement, time has turned elastic - it seems to stretch forever. You want to use your capabilities to re-engage with the professional world in a mutually rewarding manner.

The Genesis of this Workshop:

In our lives, there are times when time stands still and we find ourselves asking whether we've reached our level of competence, and whether this is where we must stay all our remaining lives?

When we stand at these points, we are usually alone with our thoughts. The future stares back at us, either challenging us to change it or frightening us with its uncertainty. We find ourselves attempting to answer the question - Have we achieved all that we were capable of achieving?

This happens to:

  1. women - when their kids have grown up and their husbands are busy with their careers. These educated homemakers want to get a freelance/part-time job that would allow them the satisfaction of monetizing their abilities without neglecting their families.
  2. both young men and women when they are in their early twenties and having completed their education they are looking for a job that matches their skills. These young graduates mostly want to get a job that would pay them well, present ample growth opportunities, and give them a chance to showcase their potential.
  3. both professional men and women when they find themselves staring at an endless routine that numbs them. They want to break free, but having worked in one domain for such a long time, they find it difficult to imagine themselves doing anything else - even if it's something that they could actually excel in.
  4. both men and women - when they retire from a job that they've held for a rather long time and find themselves confined by thick walls of time. These energetic retired professionals are looking for a possible second career less demanding and stressful than their first, yet one that gives them opportunities to connect with the world, share their experiences and knowledge, and earn well.

These are times in our lives when our energy-levels are high and when we find ourselves scouting for work that we would enjoy.

What will this workshop do for you?

Some of us are endowed with a skill that we never settled down to appreciate. We are good communicators. We express ourselves well, especially in English. Some of us write well, others speak well. Unfortunately, this ability usually is knocked aside as nothing more than a personality trait. What we fail to recognize is that this ability is the core strength around which an entire edifice of professional skills can be developed.

Depending on your interest, you can prepare yourself to perform one or several of the following roles.

  • Web Content Writer
  • Corporate blogger
  • eLearning Content Developer
  • Instructional Designer
  • Training Designer
  • Trainer
  • Coach
  • Online Tutor
  • Learning Facilitator

This list isn't a comprehensive one. However, as you'd notice, none of these professions neccessitates that you keep full 9-to-5-and-beyond schedule. In fact, all these roles come in all the three flavors: full-time, part-time, and freelance. Different organizations dish out different combinations of these flavors and they would be glad to pay you for your competence.

This workshop will introduce you to the eLearning, web-content, and training industries, and help you understand how you can enhance and leverage your skills to match the requirements of these industries. It will also give you an opportunity to determine how well your linguistic skills measure up against the industry requirements.
