This is why I&#8217;d like to talk about SCAMPER, which is an amazing tool to help a toddling creative get a foothold in the ever-shifting, ever-changing landscape of creativity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Important Note: I must also mention that while these tools (theirs, mine, ours) help us nudge our creativity out of its slumber, over time, we all must perfect our own custom methods that suit our circumstances and our temperament.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this article, I&#8217;ll introduce the seven techniques of the SCAMPER model. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s important to remember that this show hits the road with a central product or process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s how the acronym cookie crumbles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-black-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-regular-font-size wp-elements-63f89c88cbae98ed37068192edede4f1\" style=\"background:linear-gradient(135deg,rgba(255,245,204,0.53) 0%,rgba(182,227,212,0.52) 50%,rgba(51,168,181,0.54) 100%)\"><strong>S: Substitute<br>C: Combine<br>A: Adapt<br>M: Modify<br>P: Put to a different use<br>E: Eliminate<br>R: Reverse\/Rearrange<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">S: Substitute<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The question that you ask is: <\/strong>What can you swap with what? One could swap materials, people, processes, and so on. The point, however, is that the substitution should result in value-creation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">C \u2014 Combine<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The question to ask is: What weddings can you perform? My first suitcase didn&#8217;t have wheels, and it was a behemoth. Now, every suitcase just whistles by, prancing behind its owner&#8230;like it&#8217;s a dog on leash. It combines two ideas. When you are low on resources, jugaad becomes the mainstay of your life. Using large culvert pipes as living spaces is an apt example of Adaptation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">M \u2014 Modify (or Magnify\/Minify)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The question that helps is: What can you change? Can you change the size, shape, functionality of what you see in front of you? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile has-black-color has-text-color has-background has-link-color has-regular-font-size wp-elements-82956e741462bd0f65b8a2e15ba275ef\" style=\"background:linear-gradient(135deg,rgba(255,245,204,0.53) 0%,rgba(182,227,212,0.52) 50%,rgba(51,168,181,0.54) 100%);grid-template-columns:auto 60%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p><strong>Example:<\/strong> Think of Instagram reels that show people repurposing garments, or making bags out of denim trousers. (Note that this one&#8217;s pretty close to Adapt. I have a feeling that this was added to make the acronym sound better: Scamer vs. Scamper.) But because it&#8217;s here, let&#8217;s do justice to it. So the objects (fan\/bulb) remained the same, but they were put to a different use.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">E: Eliminate<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The question to ask would be: What can be removed without reducing\/destroying the functionality of the product or process? What features could go &#8211; because they are extraneous anyway? And then, simple things like decorative motifs on functional goods (cuckoo clocks and even the furniture) disappeared. Costs went down.
