Musk recently presented Optimus GEN3, and then he announced that he’s back at the helm of affairs at Tesla. These newsbytes made me wonder about Grok and how he fits in!

Here’s my take.

Optimus GEN3

Optimus is moving from strength to strength, and with Musk devoting more time and energy to Tesla now, we might see this dark and handsome guy develop his skills faster than ever before.

Musk Comes Home to Tesla

Recently, Musk bought $1B worth of Tesla shares and tweeted, “Daddy is very much home.”

Last week, Tesla’s board approved a long-term $1T plan for Musk, which is tied to Tesla’s performance targets. Musk wants 25% because he believes he needs to have a stronger say in the decision-making at Tesla. (Read the details here.) In response to this news Tesla’s shares jumped 7%.

It appears that Musk is all excited about being back in the thick of things. In reply to @greggertruck’s post, Musk said, “Daddy is very much home.” and talked about “burning the midnight oil with Optimus engineering on Friday night.”

Grok & Optimus: The Synergy

I’ve always had this feeling that Musk bought Twitter (now X) because it was fertile ground for building an AI. Twitter, with its hundreds of millions of followers (almost 400M now), and probably billions of conversations, continuously spawns data that’s created spontaneously by humans, and it helped Musk train Grok rather quickly into being the smartest AI around.

Combining the strengths of Grok Heavy with Optimus GEN 3 will empower them both. Grok Heavy becomes heavier by using the real-world knowledge that Optimus will bring back; and Optimus will use Grok’s Ph.D. level expertise in about a hundred subjects (refer to Humanity’s Last Exam) to become stronger and more agile
