The truth is that our need for employment will keep us, the current and who-might-soon-be-extinct white-collar workers, feeding the AI, making it go faster and faster; helping it grow bigger and bigger. The only intervention possible is through political will.
Slow it down. Give humanity the time to adjust. AI is an accelerating revolution, which isn’t giving humans enough time to think, gather, and revolt, let alone enough time to evolve.
